FleetMind Background
FleetMind was founded in 1996 by combining leading-edge expertise at designing computing systems for the harsh real-world environment of mining with breakthrough university research in telematics for heavy trucks.
From the outset, the company has rigorously developed and refined our on-board hardware and supporting software applications. As of 2006, we have committed over $14M in government-audited R&D to the creation of new features and capabilities for our customers. In addition, we are fortunate to have partnered with the largest and best managed Fleet operators in Canada to refine our application and ensure that Drivers, Dispatchers, and of course, the financial stakeholders realize the benefits from their investment dollar.Architecturally, the FleetMind solution was created with two powerful principles.
- The system must simplify and broaden our customers choices for wireless communications—always offering short range, wide-area, and Satellite options;
- Customers do not want an extra data system. FleetMind will always act as a convenient and reliable extension to the business systems our clients have invested in, and the processes they have in place.
Over the past 3 years we have gained tremendous respect within our local Canadian market—winning the confidence of customers, usually being selected over larger, more widely distributed competitors. This success did not go unnoticed; in 2004 a large OBC supplier entered into a development agreement with FleetMind to revamp its existing back-end software applications, redevelop their driver logs and fuel tax application, and add communications services to its respected and widely installed product line.
This has given FleetMind the opportunity to service the largest and best run fleets in America. Our experience designing and developing systems for use by some of the largest fleets in America have once again broadened our skill set, and provided the company with valuable Intellectual Property to aid our future customers.
Most recently, FleetMind has expanded our distribution to begin penetration of the wider US market. We remain a strong development team, with established technology assets, operating in the most tax-friendly R&D environment in North America. Our strategy was to partner with a large and secure American Systems integrator who possesses their own complimentary technology—and who have established sales and marketing presence with the USA.
